Abstract

Letting Space have now run two live art and property events in Wellington, entitled The Urban Dream Brokerage, designed as ice breakers for more creative ideas for the use of empty commercial space and Wellington's future. The first was in May 2010 at City Gallery Wellington, the second July 2011 at the Wellington Town Hall.

Three property owners and managers, four artists and an engaged audience come together to discuss the question: how can vacant commercial space be more creatively utilised to provide a more vital inner-city?

The Urban Dream Brokerage is a live art and property panel pitching session. In a local twist on reality TV formats like Dragon’s Den, artists and then property developers and owners pitch their creative ideas for city vacant spaces to a panel of their opposite. Walking down the city street, what does your dream realty look like?
