Abstract

absolute is a digital photographic image of a airplane and its two trailing jet streams, flying over the sun as it sets over the Tasman Sea. absolute is a single artwork that forms part of a major on-going project entitled absolute ceiling. absolute ceiling seeks to explore ideas of the contemporary sublime and phenomenology. I am particularly interested in imagery that investigates scale and perspective in relation to space and time. My methodology includes using a digital camera for image capture and laptop as mobile studio – the embodiment of travel being important to the process of production to reflect a transitory experience in relation to the subject. The resulting works seek to engage with notions of space, time, scale and perspective by utilising a multiplicity of perspectives and fluctuating expanses.
