Abstract
The neo-liberal ideology has had the effect of altering the discourse of early childhood education. The effect of this metanarrative is that a range of truths that were previously accepted in ECE are no longer visible. The naturalising of the neoliberal discourse has limited discussion, and naturalised the accepted ways of being that privilege homo economus and limits other perceptions of humanity. The paper will offer perspectives and sites of struggle. Whose story is heard?
