Abstract or Summary

The authors developed a measure to investigate students’ perceptions of the CALL content they had created. The measure is based on four four scales; firstly on “Computer Competence” which aims at investigating how the students are engaged in digitally stored information, secondly “Active Learning” which aims at investigating how they are actively engaged in learning activities, thirdly “Information Design and Appeal” which aims at investigating what features of the interface enhance students’ learning and navigation, and finally on “Reflection” which aims at investigating how students are encouraged to reflect on their learning and how they are satisfied with the environment created. Each scale consists of 6 items, which makes 24 items in total. The authors used the measure to evaluate the CALL content they had created for their English classes at Shimane University in Japan, using the questionnaire module of an open source learning management system “Moodle.” They found that the measure was useful for investigating their students’ perceptions of the content and the results of the investigation were helpful for modifying the content and developing new content. This paper describes the measure the authors have developed and illustrates the results of the investigation they made with the measure.
