Abstract

Absolute win is a triptych that’s part of a larger on-going project entitled absolute ceiling. It comprises images of different expanses of water (gold, silver, bronze) observed from the air at different times whilst flying over the Tasman.
The absolute ceiling seeks to explore ideas of the contemporary sublime and phenomenology. I am particularly interested in imagery that investigates scale and perspective in relation to space and time. My methodology includes using a digital camera for image capture and laptop as mobile studio – the embodiment of travel being important to the process of production to reflect a transitory experience in relation to the subject. The resulting works seek to engage with notions of space, time, scale and perspective by utilising a multiplicity of perspectives and fluctuating expanses observed from the air.
