Abstract

This audio installation focuses on obsolete materials. The only ‘new’ aspect of the media used are the batteries. All of the players were borrowed or rescued from skips.
If a player has stopped please feel free to replace its batteries and/or eject and turn the cassette tape over to the other side.
The sound sources you are hearing are pure sine wave tones, recorded using the notes C, E, G and B. As the players run at varying speeds, there are discrepancies in the actual pitch of the tones being produced.
