Abstract or Summary
Stacey Tangaere and I were invited by Auckland live to develop a previous project 'Te Whāriki Kiokio' into four light boxes that were displayed in the Aotea Square in Auckland during Matariki 2018. Each box showcased a contemporary version of a traditional Māori tukutuku panel design along with a description of the design and its meaning in Māori culture. The work was visible during the day, but at night they were illuminated from the inside making them glow in the Aotea Square.
