Abstract or Summary

Research shows school-based counselling is effective in bringing hope to children. Such programmes in primary schools are fairly new to New Zealand and an area where development and evaluation is required. This presentation will outline an evaluation of the establishment of a primary school-based counselling service in New Zealand, which is currently in progress. It will discuss the purpose, methodology and some preliminary evaluation findings. It is hoped that this will contribute to the development of such services into the future so that hope can be made more accessible to children in New Zealand.
