Abstract or Summary

This report is to introduce an internship project at Waikato Regional Council (WRC). Hipflask was a web application developed for environmental monitoring which had many tools and each tool undertook a specific function. Two of them, Extreme Graph and Low Flow Conditions, needed optimizing. The main responsibility of these two tools was to fetch the data and display it with different types like charts, maps or tables. After the analysis, the existing two tools had the defects such as long web page loading time, lack of necessary form validations and few unknown bugs. Aiming at these defects, a complete optimization design was put forward and implemented. The techniques like multi-threading process and the newest framework Angular 6 were adopted. The result showed that the optimization design was effective and the new system had higher performance.
