My postcard depicts a group of bronze figurines dated from the early-mid Holocene. they are votives (gifts) offered to deities, excavated from rocky outcrops known as peak sanctuaries in Kythera, Greece.
As we enter an era of possible destabilisation of earth systems we might ask what lessons, insights and inspirations these objects offer for any current social renegotiation with the geologic? The answer may be found in the scale of these figures, testifying to a material existence vastly exceeding the measure of the human and the channeling of excess energies as something in the nature of a rift bridging offering or gift.
