Abstract

As Mental Health Support Workers strive for professional recognition in the healthcare sector, disciplinary development and growth is required. This book offers a collection of contemporary research articles that: Explores why Mental Health Support Work needs research and professional registration; Examines the functional role of support work practice; Investigates psychosocial rehabilitation principles; Discusses ethical issues; and Offers a scope of practice and code of ethics. If Mental Health Support Work is to grow as a professional discipline, then we need to have a very clear concept of what it is we are doing and have evidence to support our claims. The research given here does just that.
