Abstract

This presentation examines epigenetic research highlighting how the intergenerational ripple effects of trauma can move from one generation to the next. It the examines the history of colonisation through the doctrine of discovery and then examines its ripple effects around the world, and the impacting on Aotearoa NewZealand. The presentation then discusses prisons, and how historical contexts contribute to Maori crime and prison statisitcs. It then describes a pilot program for prisons that currently being developed.
