“Most socialist and anarchist comment has missed the most relevant point about the life and death of Diana. This is that Diana was the most spectacular example of the 'spectacular society' since the concept was launched.”
This is not a tribute. It will not be televised, a monument to the banal and a lost connection to the motherland, a plastic fairy tale rotten to the core. Elton John still sux, Charles is a mummy’s boy and the Queen is redundant, (and possibly the worlds most scariest mother-in-law). Diana, well she was just another 80’s decorative, Sloan-ranger social climber, with an eating disorder but for some reason, sold a lot of women’s magazines here in New Zealand.
I saw Diana in Upper Hutt in the 80’s - my parents took me I was too young to say no. Diana wore a pretty electric blue 2 piece outfit and a matching hat with a feather in it – can’t remember what Charles wore (I think he was there). My birthday is at the end of August. My parents phone me every year from England. When Diana died my parents did not phone that birthday because they were too upset, they even traveled up to London to pay their respects and placed a bunch of roses at Buckingham Palace.
