Abstract
Merit award winner, 2007 National Painting and Printmaking Award, Hamilton, New Zealand. 20th February - 27th March 2007. Title: William in Paradise (1524mm x 915mm) This work is part of a series of works (Paradise Lost) that investigate contemporary articulations of Queer identity in a postmodern world. The works are an exploration of Queer stereotypes, gay motifs and my own critical responses to theses modes of representation within New Zealand and the Pacific. Much of my work has religious references, this one references ‘Adam & Eve’. This work has been selected for ‘Existence: life according to art’ a curated national exhibition to be held at The Museum of Waikato 29 April - 15 October 2007.
