Abstract
The selected work is part of a series of paintings derived from a return to Tiaketahuna and Opiki, in the Manawatu, the place of my birth.
This work, ‘Smoker’, implants a fictitious memory of an open air cook up into that landscape. Three mischievous boys, unsupervised, tend a cooking fire beneath the towering pylons of the disused Opiki bridge.
