Abstract
Live performance of the score for the premiere of the feature film.
'Shepherd' - a film by Julia Reynolds.
World Premiere of New Zealand Science Fiction Feature Film SHEPHERD accompanied by live string quartet soundtrack.
The Green family, travelling home to Earth encounter a phenomenon. The star system disappears leaving them without navigation. A light appears and 13 year old Eden Green believes this light will lead them home. With options running out, Eden’s parents release the cargo and set a course to follow the light.
However, back on Earth, no record of the stars disappearing exists – Her parents are convicted of treason. Years later, Eden stumbles on an old travel brochure. She is stunned to see an image of a beach - a location she has seen in a recurring dream. She leaves her life and ventures out to find this beach. The journey is fraught with isolation and self-doubt. Eden returns to her past, her memories and follows what she has always been given - the guide.
The film is accompanied by a live performance from Jeremy Mayall’s beautifully composed film score.
