Abstract

This is the second part of a series of contibutions written for Planet 401, the newsletter of Centre 401, a consumer-run Mental Health Service in Hamilton, New Zealand. Using the joke question "Why did the chicken cross the road" the the recovery journey is discussed through an exploration of the 'role' of the consumer/tangata whai ora as 'the chicken', and the 'road' being analogous of the recovery journey itself, with its incumbent barriers, dangers and opportunities.
