As mental health support workers strive for professional recognition in the healthcare sector, disciplinary development and growth is required. This book outlines the development of a holistic model of practice over a two year period, from initial concept through to model implementation. The model draws on concepts of wellness indigenous to New Zealand, as well as those utilised in cognitive behaviour therapy, providing a bicultural foundation of practice. Case studies and vignettes from the action research have been included so the reader is able to see the model of practice from both a theoretical and practical perceptive.
