Abstract
Can we use Flickr as a versatile tool in different situations to improve student learning in a flexi delivery environment? We all underestimate the power of photos and videos in social media use in education. One picture or video can result in 1000 words and 1000 different perspectives. You can use Flickr software (photos and videos) to enhance event management learning.
Flickr is not restricted by geographical location. Flickr as a versatile tool in different situations to improve student learning will be of interest.
Flickr Software was recently reinvented by Yahoo. Is it going to overtake the popularity of You Tube? Flickr and You Tube neatly support familiar social media software, Facebook available today. Flickr provides the perfect opportunity for students to gather information, critically reflect on the information and then share their reflections with others. This sharing of “best practice” marketing methods for event management seldom occurs in the industry. Flickr photos and videos do not age they are timeless. Using this methodology for critical evaluation could be the way for the future.
Flickr is eco-friendly; a paperless environment available to all students and teachers has been put in place. Flickr offers a lot of opportunities for anyone. Flickr account holders can choose different levels of security for photo(s) and collections. Learn how to use Flickr effectively and make it user friendly. You can use it on a PC, MAC, I pad, IPod, IPhone, Smart Phone, in fact anywhere where there is Wi-Fi or an internet connection.
I now prefer it over You Tube for my video access. Come join me whether you are a beginner, intermediate or expert on Flickr, everyone comes away with new skills by using Flickr.
