Within the context of the VET library environment the premise was accepted that the current usage trend is towards technologies that allow individual mobility and, increasingly, contextualisation.

There is a paucity of information relating to the VET library sector and the impact of mobile technologies upon this sector remains restricted to anecdotal reporting. It was assumed that a contributing factor to the apparent slowness in the uptake of mobile service delivery was a lack of confidence and competence amongst the library staff themselves. It is critical that VET library and information professionals are appropriately prepared to realise the nascent potential of mobile technologies in the workplace.

A model of technology acceptance was tested against data collected from the Australasian VET library sector.
