Abstract
On embarking on an Extensive Reading programme the teaching team at our institution wanted to know if an ER programme would assist the development of reading habits among the Level 1 and 2 cohort at our institution, who are beginner second language readers. From both quantitative and qualitative evidence gathered over a semester we concluded that when a number of supporting factors combine together that reading habits may start to develop in both print-based and digital environments.
