Abstract
Participating in online discussions is a key component of assessment of “Event Management”. These online forums allowed learners time to gather information, critically reflect on the information and then share their reflections with others. This sharing of “best practice” marketing methods for event management seldom occurs in the industry. This meant a new frame-work of delivery needed to be developed.
In designing the course it was apparent familiar social media software, Facebook, provided learners with an environment that allowed them to discuss what works, what doesn’t work, and how social-media functions could be used in the future.
This case study will demonstrate how Facebook was used in “Event Management”, discuss teacher and student perspectives of this medium and outline future developments.
